What we collect

Nothing that identifies you. chneas has no accounts, no login, no database and no analytics. We do not set cookies for our own purposes and we do not build a profile of you.

Our host serves the pages, and like any web host it processes ordinary request data (IP address, browser user-agent, page requested) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We do not analyse those logs to identify individuals.

The feedback box

Every page carries a Feedback button. It is the one place on this site where something you write is deliberately sent to us, so it is worth being exact about it.

• It sends only when you type a message and press Send. Opening a page sends nothing. Using a tool sends nothing. There is no beacon and no page-view ping.
• What is sent: your message, and the name of the tool you were on. That is the whole payload, and the widget states it on screen before you send.
• What is never sent: the file you dropped in, anything a tool found in it, your name, your email, or any identifier. The widget has no access to a tool's data.
• Where it goes: our own feedback endpoint at collect.pastelive.com, operated by us for our own sites. It is not an analytics product and it is not shared with anyone.
• If you would rather not use it, email hello@chneas.com instead.

What each tool sends over the network

Shade	Nothing. The OCR engine is downloaded from a public CDN on first use; your image is never part of any request.
Argus	Nothing. The PDF and ZIP readers come from a CDN; your document does not.
Kelpie	Nothing. The URL you paste is parsed as text. Kelpie never opens or fetches it.
Selkie	Nothing. The spreadsheet is unzipped and read locally.
Gryphon	Nothing. The archive is unzipped and scanned locally.
Feedback box	Only what you type, plus which tool you were on, and only when you press Send. Never the file.
Mimir	The reference text only. A citation lookup is, by definition, a query to a citation database. Mimir sends each reference string directly from your browser to Crossref, OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar, PubMed, DataCite, Google Books and OpenLibrary. It does not send your document, and the request does not pass through any server of ours. Those services have their own privacy policies. If you enter an email address in the optional "polite pool" field, it is sent to Crossref and OpenAlex only, and is never stored by us.

Third-party code we load

Tools fetch open-source libraries from public CDNs (jsDelivr, cdnjs) when you first use them. Those CDNs see your IP address and the file requested, as they would for any site. They never receive your files. Full list and licences on the credits page.

Advertising

chneas is free and is funded by advertising. Our commitment, and the reason we chose the network we did:

• Ads are contextual: matched to the page, not to you.
• We do not use behavioural or interest-based advertising, and we do not permit ad personalisation.
• No advertiser receives, sees or has any access to the files you process. They cannot, technically: the files never exist outside your browser's memory.
• We do not sell or share personal information.

If we ever switch to a network that sets tracking cookies, this page and the "no tracking" claim in our footer will change first, and a consent banner will appear for visitors in regions that require one. We would rather lose the revenue than print a promise that is not true.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export, correct or delete. If you are in the EU, UK, New Zealand or another jurisdiction with data-protection law and want to confirm that, contact us and we will explain in detail.

Children

chneas is not directed at children under 13 and we knowingly collect nothing from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes and the substance of the change will be described here rather than quietly swapped in.
